The Association of Students of African Heritage
ASAH
The Association of Students of African Heritage (ASAH) stands as a vibrant and pioneering student organization in the Netherlands, dedicated to celebrating and promoting African culture and identity. Our association is built on the principles of professional development, cultural enrichment, and social engagement, reflecting a commitment to enhancing the student experience through diverse and dynamic activities.
Professional Development: We organize events such as the Africa Growth Day, aimed at equipping students with knowledge, skills, and networks to excel in their professional lives. These events bring together industry leaders, professionals, and students to foster growth and career advancement.
Cultural Enrichment: Our cultural initiatives include dance classes, cooking workshops, and various events that celebrate African heritage. These activities offer members a chance to engage with African culture in a hands-on, enjoyable manner, enriching their understanding and appreciation of the continent's diverse traditions.
Social Engagement: Social activities, including the ASAH Gala and Bafeti, provide opportunities for members to connect, have fun , and enjoy the student life. These events are designed to strengthen the bonds within our community and celebrate our shared heritage.

ASAH proudly holds the distinction of being the first successful Afro-oriented student association in the Netherlands. Our work has not only set a precedent but also inspired the creation of similar organizations across the country. We have established affiliations both locally and internationally, further extending our reach and impact.
Our mission is to build a community with a deep affinity for Africa, whether through personal heritage, the diaspora, or genuine interest. We celebrate and strengthen African identity while connecting our members with the global African community. We warmly welcome anyone with an interest in African culture—whether it’s music, food, or people—to join our vibrant community and participate in our events.
This year, our theme is "The Voices of Africa." Individually, we each bring unique perspectives and insights, but together, we create a mosaic of innovation and impact that reflects Africa's rich diversity. We aim to foster a community connected to the African continent through heritage, diaspora, or personal interest, and to celebrate and strengthen African identity.
We look forward to seeing you at Eurekaweek and our upcoming events, where together, we will create a mosaic of innovation, impact, and insight, showcasing the rich diversity of Africa.
